Job Title: Live-in Houseman

A private family in Leicestershire is seeking a practical, proactive, and caring Live-in Houseman to support the smooth running of their countryside home, and provide loving care for their two friendly Cockapoos. This varied and rewarding role suits someone who enjoys rural living, takes pride in their work, and genuinely loves dogs.

Key Responsibilities:

Dog Care

• Daily walking, feeding, and companionship for two Cockapoos
• Regular dog-sitting during the principals’ frequent travel
• Occasional school run or weekend driving duties for the family’s two sons (aged 12 & 17)

Gardening & Grounds Maintenance

• General upkeep of large formal gardens and surrounding fields
• Mowing, weeding, pruning, hedge trimming, and seasonal outdoor tasks
• Light landscaping, and property boundary maintenance

Home Maintenance & Support

• Basic DIY, decorating, and handyman work as needed
• General upkeep of a large, listed six-bedroom home and three annexes
• Supporting occasional dinner parties or informal entertaining (eg setting up, tidying)

Domestic Assistance

• Helping to keep utility areas tidy and organised
• Occasional help with laundry, errands, or light housekeeping if needed

Ideal Candidate Will Be:

• Responsible, trustworthy, and self-motivated
• Comfortable managing their time and working independently
• Flexible and willing to adapt to changing household needs
• Practical and confident in hands-on, physical tasks
• A genuine dog lover with experience in pet care
• A confident driver with own transport (preferred)

Hours:  Approx. 20 hours per week, with flexibility for dog-sitting and occasional weekend/evening support.
Accommodation:  A private, well-equipped 2-bedroom annex attached to the main house. The principals are open to discussing arrangements for applicants with their own dog or pet.
