Carer / Companion required for a 14yr old girl in London, W11

We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and confident young female to provide full-time care and companionship for a kind and gentle 14-year-old girl working through some mental health challenges (depression and anxiety).  The role involves offering emotional support, helping her manage daily activities, and fostering a positive, stable environment to aid her well-being and growth.

The ideal candidate will be a young confident female who is professional, enthusiastic, and reliable with a warm and relaxed energy.  This is a ‘buddy’ type role and the candidate should be capable of building a strong, positive, and trusting relationship with the young, mainly upbeat and fun young teen. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is caring, creative, and dedicated to making a meaningful impact on a young person's life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily supervision, ensuring the child's safety and well-being
  • Support with daily routines from waking up, getting ready for home tutoring, out of house appointments and activities, meal times. and managing a healthy daily routine
  • Coordinate and attend appointments or meetings related to the child’s care (eg, medical appointments, therapy sessions)
  • Assist with schoolwork and extracurricular activities as needed
  • Foster a positive and supportive environment, encouraging independence and self-confidence
  • Engage in fun, age-appropriate activities, both indoors and outdoors, that promote the child's interests and skills development
  • Help the child manage any emotional or behavioural challenges with patience and understanding
  • Collaborate with the family to provide consistent support and follow any care plans in place
  • Communicate regularly with the parents to update them on the child’s progress and needs

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience working with children or young teens, preferably in a similar care or buddy type role
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to form a positive bond with the child
  • Patience, empathy, and an understanding of child development
  • First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Ability to handle challenging behaviours with calmness and care
  • Flexibility to adapt to the needs of the family and child
  • A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their growth
  • Advanced DBS checks essential

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with children who have specific needs (eg, learning difficulties or mental health challenges)
  • Background or experience in education, social work, psychology, or a related field is essential

Working Hours & Benefits:

  • Full-time 6 month contract with a possibility to extend
  • Hours are 8.00am-6.00pm, Monday to Friday with some flexibility for evenings and weekends as needed
  • Live-in option available (local accommodation can be provided)
